What do I need to begin practicing yoga?
All you need to begin practicing yoga is comfortable, breathable clothing and a yoga mat. It's also helpful to have a quiet space to practice in, and some people prefer to use props like blocks or straps to support their practice.
What are the benefits of doing yoga?
Yoga has many physical and mental health benefits, including improved flexibility, strength, balance, and posture; reduced stress and anxiety; better sleep; improved cardiovascular health; and increased mindfulness and self-awareness.
How often should I practice yoga?
The frequency of your yoga practice will depend on your individual goals and schedule, but most people benefit from practicing yoga at least 2-3 times per week.
What is a Sound Bath?
Contrary to the name, a sound bath does not involve water. A sound bath is a relaxing, meditative experience where you are "bathed" or surrounded in the sounds, rhythms, and vibrations of instruments from around the world helping to promote deep relaxation and a healing environment for the body, mind and spirit.
While you are lying down on a mat or seated in a gravity chair, a trained facilitator plays a wide variety of instruments to produce the soothing sounds. Instruments may include quartz crystal singing bowls, gongs, chimes, Tibetan singing bowls, string instruments, wind instruments, various drums and even the human voice.
No meditation experience necessary!
How do I prepare for a Sound Bath?
Arrive with an open mind and an open heart. It is best to be well hydrated as sound waves & vibrations travel best through water. Do not eat anything too heavy prior to the session. A light meal an hour or two before the session is best. Drink plenty of water following the sound bath for at least 24 hours.
What do I wear to a Sound Bath?
Wear comfortable clothing. Think "lounging on the couch" attire.
What do I bring to a Sound Bath?
A Thai mattress and a light blanket will be provided for you during your Sound Bath at The Treehouse. Feel free to bring a water bottle and any of your own favorite comfort items such as a blanket, pillow or an eye covering.
**If you cannot lie down comfortably on the floor for an extended amount of time, I do have a couple of gravity chairs available for use. Please contact me ahead of time to hold a gravity chair for you**
How long does a Sound Bath session last?
Most sound bath sessions typically run approximately 1 hour. With 5-10 minutes getting settled in before the session and 5-10 minutes of reflection after the session. Some of the more specialized events may run longer and will be noted in the event details.
